A team of doctors successfully conducted a brain tumour surgery recently in a local hospital in Silchar.
Veteran neurosurgeon Dr Diba Nath Chakraborty along with his team of doctors including Dr PR Bishnu (Surgery) and Dr Abhijit Das (anaesthetist) and support staff operated upon 40-year old Bijuli Nath, a resident of Narsingpur in Cachar district. The surgery was done at Green Heals Hospital Private Limited here. The doctors and hospital authorities claim this to be the first of its kind surgery in south Assam.
“When the patient reported to us, she had complaints of nausea and blurry sight. We found that her eyesight was at risk if the ailment persisted and hence we opted to conduct brain tumour -craniotomy and total excision of left parietal meningioma. The patient is leading a healthy life with no post-operative complaints,” Dr Chakraborty told mediapersons on Friday.
Asked what keeps him away from joining the SMCH, Dr Chakraborty made it clear that it lacks the infrastructure necessary for neurological treatment. Rudra Narayan Gupta, director, Green Heals Hospital along with other staff of the hospital were also present in the media interaction.
