The pathetic condition of road connectivity and health care facilities in Assam was once again exposed when a woman died due to poor road connectivity and medical treatment in Narayanpur.
According to the reports, a woman identified as Bobita Mili hailing from Chokial Sapori under Narayanpur area in Lakhimpur district fell sick on Sunday. The members of her family were forced to carry her in a hand-cart to a government-run hospital in Narayanpur because of the dilapidated condition of roads, where she was declared dead.
The relatives of Mili had to trudge through several kilometres of road as no ambulance could make it to the area due to the worst condition of roads. A relative of Mili said, “The road connectivity in our area is the worst. We carried the patients to the hospital by using a hand-cart.”
Similarly, in Sipajhar, another patient was brought to a hospital in a hand-cart on Sunday.
