Tensed situations arise in Dibrugarh University on Monday night ahead of the election as AL Assam Studentis Union (AASU) members allegedly assaulted two members of Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP).
The incident allegedly took place at around5.55 pm when both of them were coming out of the university campus. Sources said that the AASU activists assaulted former state secretary of ABVP Nayan Jyoti Sarma and Rohit Nayan Baruah. Baruah had come to the University for the purpose of his cousin’s admission at the Women Studies department in the university when the AASU members assaulted him.
However, Nayan Jyoti Sarma went to the university to meet the Vice-Chancellor. According to a member of ABVP the AASU members assaulted them when both were returning from the university. An FIR has been lodged at Dibrugarh police station by ABVP.
On the other hand, the AASU members alleged that ABVP members assaulted the AASU members outside the university Moreover, the AASU has also filed an FIR at Rajabheta police outpost.
