Delhi police charge penalty to cab drivers without condoms
Delhi police recently grabbed attention of many for a whole new reason. The police of the national capital now charge penalty to the cab drivers if they are found without a condom in their vehicles’ first aid box.
According to the Delhi Motor Vehicle Act, it is mandatory for stage carriage and contract carriage to carry first aid kit consisting of sterilised finger dressing, hand or foot dressing, two large and three small burn dressings, a bottle of 2 per cent tincture iodine, sal volatile, body dressing (one extra-large), a medicine glass and an empty bottle fitted with a dropper for the eyes; but nowhere in the Act it is mentioned about condoms.
Whem some cab drivers shared that a condom could be useful in scenarios like a burst pressure pipe or in matters of leakage in the car , according to some some cab drivers, even police were not able to explain why they penalised the drivers, who were found without a condom inside their first aid kit.
Whatever the reason might be, it is good that an awareness of the importance of condoms is being spread in the country through the rules imposed by Delhi police.
