Illegal banner of politician kills 23-year-old Subhasri, HC reacts

When one visits different cities in India, it is evident that the one surely gets a glance of the hoardings erected at the roadside and many a time even at the divider. While we are less aware of the legality of erecting such banners at roadside or dividers.

One such illegally erected banner became a reason behind the death of a 23-year-old techie Subhasri on Thursday in Chennai. Subhasri was reportedly riding her two-wheeler and abruptly a banner erected on the divider fell on her. Reports said that she immediately fell on the middle of the road and a water tanker rammed into her.

According to a report published in The Quint, Police booked AIADMK functionary C jayagopal for erecting the flex banner for a family wedding without any authorization. He has been booked under the Section 4 of The Tamil Nadu Open Places (Prevention of Disfigurement) Act, 1959.

The Madras High Court slammed the Tamil Nadu government saying that it lost faith in the government. How many more litres of blood do you need, the Madras High Court said in its statement.
