Indian Tourist Detained In Bhutan For Climbing Atop Buddhist Religious Monument.

An Indian Tourist was detained by the Royal Bhutan Police (RBP) for standing on a Buddhist religious monument in Bhutan’s Dochula area.

The 108 memorial stupas known as “Druk Wangyal Chortens” located at the serene, pristine Dochula Pass at an altitude of 3100m.

These 108 memorial stupas were built in memory of the 108 Bhutanese soldiers who were killed in the 2003 battle, during the first ever operation “Operation all Clear” conducted by the Royal Bhutan Army.

The tourist is from Maharashtra identified as Abhijit Ratan Hajare who was part of a 15 bike convoy.

According to the Bhutanese twitter handle, Hajare’s passport was seized by the Royal Bhutan Police yesterday.
