Atul Bora, a Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader who represents the Dispur constituency in the Assam Assembly has tested COVID-19 positive on Monday, reports said.
Party sources said Bora, who represents Dispur constituency in the Assam legislative assembly, is the fifth legislator in the state to test positive for COVID-19.
Meanwhile, the corona situation has continued to rise in Assam with a massive surge in cases registered at the community level. With 1,018 more COVID-19 cases detected on Sunday, the caseload in Assam has risen to 23,999. The number of active patients now is 7,916, and 57 COVID-19 deaths have been reported so far in Assam.
