Within the last 24 hours, the overflowing water of the mighty Brahmaputra as well as Kapili river has submerged more than 112 villages under five revenue circles of the district and also ravaged more than 2218 hectares of crop land under these revenue circles.In this wave of flood, around 29,741 people were reportedly affected in the district while more than 28,562 animals were hit.
As per a report of the District Disaster Management Authority, during this wave of flood, 49 villages under Kampur revenue circle as well as 30 villages under Raha revenue circle have been inundated by the overflowing water of Kapili river and the flood water has submerged Kampur-Bakulaguri road near Gossaigaon Gerukhunda.
Similarly, the flood water of the mighty Brahmaputra inundated 13 villages under Kaliabor revenue circle, 10 villages under Dhing revenue circle and 10 villages under Samaguri revenue circle. The overflowing water of the river has partially submerged Laokhuwa-Bongaon PMGSY road.
Meanwhile, the sources in the Water Resources Department informed here that Brahmaputra is flowing 69 centimetres above the danger level today which is 2 centimetres less than the previous day.
Besides, the Kapili river is still flowing one metre above the danger level although the water level in upper areas is decreasing, the sources claimed.
