Google, in its status page acknowledged the issue and wrote: “We’re investigating reports of an issue with Gmail. We will provide more information shortly.”
The tech giant added, “We are continuing to investigate this issue. We will provide an update by 8/20/20, 1:30 PM detailing when we expect to resolve the problem.”
Some users said they were unable send emails altogether while some others said when they tried to attach a file, it showed a slow upload process. Even if it would complete, it would leads to an error message that read: “you need to check your network”. This is not the best time that the Google-owned emailing service and drive suffered a global outage as most people are working remotely, given the coronavirus pandemic situation and social distancing norms.
