JORABAT, Sept 18 – A Dimoria-based journalist working with an Assamese electronic media channel has filed an FIR against a digital news portal for trying to malign his image. The vernacular news portal Sangbad Pratipal recently aired a news clip dragging the journalist into an illegal activity.
Taking the matter seriously, the electronic media journalist lodged an FIR with the Khetri Police Station today, demanding strictest action against the news portal for airing the ‘unauthenticated’ news.
Meanwhile, the journalists of Dimoria, particularly Dimoria Press Club, Sangbadik Suraksha Mancha, Dimoria Sangbadik Sanstha and Jorabat Journalist’ Union have lambasted the news portal for unnecessarily portraying the senior journalist in a bad light. The journalist fraternity and several organisations of Dimoria have demanded strictest action against the news portal. They have also demanded of the departments concerned to regulate the news portals and act strictly against them for such malicious acts.
