Assam: Group of youth attack Police constable in Tinsukia

Given the ongoing Covid situation, a video was seen circling the internet where five men were seen assaulting a police constable in uniform. The incident took place in Tinsukia bypass road near Dihingia chariali.

A group of 5 men had allegedly came to a tea shop when the constable had simply told them to put on their masks, it made them angry thereby lead to a heated argument, they also slapped and hit the constable.

According to reports, Mayur Ranjan Das is a constable of the 2nd Battalion of Assam Police in Panitola Police Station and was traveling to Makum that day. However, of the five men, three have been arrested and are identified as Kiron Gohain, Kaushik Gohain, and Bhabesh Gohain while other culprits are absconding.

The police official said, “We have arrested three of them so far. We will analyze the video, those absconding will either have to surrender, or we will find them. They will be arrested for sure”.
