Minister for Environment and Forest, Fisheries and Excise, Parimal Suklabaidya laid the foundation stone for retrofitting of Bagbahar Basti Piped Water Supply Scheme (PWSS) 2020-21 under Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) at Kamlabari under Bagbahar Gaon Panchayat here on Sunday.
The estimated amount of the PWSS is Rs.66.50 lakh.
Laying the foundation stone of the PWSS scheme under Silchar PHED Division II, Cachar in the presence of ZP Member, Lakhi Rani Yadav, AP President, Subodh Das, GP President, Arpita Sharma and AP Member, Sonali Roy, Suklabaidya said under the ambitious JJM, tap water connections will be provided to all rural households by 2024. He said Assam is also marching towards providing tap connections to rural households within the stipulated timeframe.
The Minister said the Har Ghar Nal Se Jal programme forms a crucial component of the Jal Jeevan Mission. “The programme aims to implement source sustainability measures as mandatory elements, such as recharge and reuse through grey water management, water conservation, and rain water harvesting,” he added.
