Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Sunday put forth five poll promises for the people of the city-UT if the Aam Aadmi Party was elected to power. Earlier this week, the party had released an election manifesto with 23 guarantees for the upcoming municipal corporation elections. Civic polls for 35 wards are scheduled to take place on December 24, with votes being counted on December 27.

“If AAP comes to power in Chandigarh, we’ll end corruption,” Kejriwal asserted on Sunday. Addressing the crowd assembled at the Dusshera Ground in Chandigarh, he drew several parallels with his own government in Delhi. “Water and electricity are free in Delhi. Chandigarh will also get free water,” he assured.

The AAP convenor said that his party would work to ensure that Chandigarh became the most beautiful city in Asia yet again. He also promised to remove “garbage dump mountains” such as the one in Daddu Majra Colony.

“For every municipality work, people spend money and take offs from offices due to long queues. So municipality officials will come to your residences for work, like in Delhi,” Kejriwal added.
