Darjeeling girl Julaikha Shah is among the top 5 contestants selected from Sikkim for the upcoming Femina Miss India 2022 event. Shah is a resident of Darjeeling in West Bengal. And is a student & model by profession.
She did her schooling from Loreto Convent, Darjeeling & GD Goenka, Siliguri, and attended college at Jadavpur University, Kolkata. Currently, she is working as a professional model. Her hobbies are singing, painting, and trekking.
In an exclusive interview with Guwahati Times, she shared how she stepped into the modelling world, she said, “I got into modelling at the age of 19, I had no plans at all until I met this Photographer who wanted to photograph me because of my unique features and ever since then brands started contacting me for shoots and today I shoot for national brands and well as local labels in and around Kolkata.”
“I feel great, regardless of the results I’m just happy to have made it to the top 5 contestants,” Shah added.
▶️If you get the chance to represent your state, what do you want to do for the people of your state?
If I get selected to represent my state then I’ll work to make my country and the world know more about my state and about its beauty. The northeast region has been neglected for way too long and I hope to change that, make an impact and represent my state in the best way possible
▶️What do you think about ‘Modelling as a career?
Modelling is a passion for me, it’s something that comes very easily to me. I love being in front of the camera but as far as my career is concerned I’m more inclined towards studies and want to become a criminal psychologist one day
▶️How does your family support you in your modelling career?
My family is very supportive of my modelling career despite the boundaries created by society and I’m immensely grateful for that
▶️Future Plans: I want to study criminal psychology and become a criminal psychologist
▶️Who is your role model?
My role model is Michelle Obama because I love the way she empowers women as a whole and the way she puts herself forward is something I would like to achieve in the years to come
