Two KLO Rebels Killed In Kokrajhar Gun Battle

In a major development, two members of a militant organisation – Kamatapur Liberation Organisation (KLO) – were killed during an encounter with security forces today in Kokrajhar district.

According to police sources, a search operation was carried out by security forces after getting information about the activities of KLO militants along the Baokhungri Hills area in Kokrajhar district.

Subsequently an encounter took place in which two KLO militants were shot dead on the spot.

Four other members were apprehended and the camp inside the Baokhungri Hills was busted.

The search operation was led by Nabanita Sharma, additional superintendent of police (ASP), Kokrajhar.

The deceased KLO members are identified as Abhijit Deka (Udalguri) and Nippon Roy (Bongaigaon).

The apprehended KLO members are Amal Jyoti Biswas(Udalguri), Rananjay Laskar(Udalguri), Pranjit Rai(Chirang) and Ganesh Biswas (Udalguri).

“The search operation against the KLO militant organisation was successful and two KLO members were neutralised,” informed a senior police officer.
