GUWAHATI,June 4: The Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport, Guwahati have recorded a footfall of nearly 5.2 lakh passengers in May 2024, witnessing a sharp increase from the corresponding month of the last year which was 15% (494057) higher than the last year’s May. Among them, 2.63 Lakh were departed passengers and the remaining were arrival travellers. On the contray, the airport handled 3554 scheduled flights in May.
Meanwhile, the Airport handled nearly 3342 Haj passengers in the month of May 2024, which is significantly lower than last year’s Haj time. Last year the total departed Haj passengers were 5790.
Notably, the top three domestic destinations are Mumbai, Delhi and Bengaluru from Guwahati. Similarly, the Four international destinations are Singapore, Paro, Bangkok and Kualampur.
In this context, the chief airport officer Utpal Baruah says, “Guwahati Airport is hopeful of consistent growth in this summer schedule starting from the month of May. In this summer season, the rise of passengers will be sharpening. Now LGBIA expects a strong surge during the summer schedule season,”
