Joint Commissioner of Police (Guwahati) Deboraj Upadhaya has been awarded the President’s Police Medal for Distinguished Service. He is among 74 officers to receive the award this Republic Day.Fourteen State officers have received the Police Medal for meritorious service, which includes three woman police constables. They are – SP (SB) Imdadul Hussain Bora, AIGP Mahesh Chand Sarma, SP (Sonitpur) Kumar Sanjit Krishna, DCP (Traffic) Prasanta Saikia, ASI (Nalbari) Suresh Sarma, ASI (Border) Bhabesh Nath, Havildar (1st APBn) Padmadhar Das, Havildar (Hailakandi) Nitish Ranjan Nath, Havildar (4th APBn) Hemanta Chandra Ray, Lance Naik (Dibrugarh) Phanidhar Mohan, WPC (Tinsukia) Sakhina Gogoi, UBC (Bongaigaon) Lohit Chandra Ray, WPC (Tinsukia) Kaushalya Daulagaphu and WPC (Tinsukia) Iramoni Baruah.

The President’s Fire Service Medal for Distinguished Service has been given to sub-officer Kameshwar Thakur, while station officer Jugal Chandra Payang has received the Fire Service Medal for Meritorious Service.

Three Home Guards and Civil Defence personnel – Nripen Mahanta, Dipak Mili and Narendra Nath Bhuyan have received medals for meritorious service.
