Congress president Rahul Gandhi will visit the State on February 21. His visit will come 11 days after Prime Minister Narendra Modi toured the Northeast and addressed a mammoth gathering at Changsari near here where he launched a series of projects.
Though Gandhi’s itinerary is yet to be finalized, Congress sources said he would interact with students of USTM before attending a ‘booth sanmilan’ at the Khanapara field.
Before winding up his daylong visit, Gandhi would attend a meeting of the North East Congress Coordination Committee (NECCC). Senior party leaders of the region are expected to take part in the NECCC meeting to be held at ITA Machkhowa.
“We expect a gathering of over 50,000 at the Khanapara rally. Representatives from all the 26,000 booths have been asked to attend it. Besides, the winners and candidates of the recently-held panchayat elections have been asked to attend it as they would be involved in the upcoming general election campaign,” a Congress leader said.
