When Reliance Jio stepped into the market commercially in early 2017, it came up with a modern subscription plan – a Prime membership plan that offered multiple benefits for a year at Rs 99 per year. Jio pushed its subscribers to go for the Prime membership plans for Rs 99 and later included it with the multiple recharge plans. In an unexplained move, Reliance is now renewing the Prime membership subscription without any costs for all subscribers.
Jio prepaid subscribers now no more need to pay an additional Rs 99 for getting the Prime subscription. The Prime subscription is being renewed automatically for everyone and subscribers now only need to pay for recharge plans.
In order to check whether your Jio number has received the benefit or not, head over to the My Jio app and navigate to My Plans. If the Prime membership tab shows the following message — “Your request to avail free JioPrime membership for a year has been registered successfully. You can now enjoy JioPrime benefits for another year. Thank You!”, the subscription is activated and you wouldn’t need to do anything else. If it isn’t activated, then you might have to wait for a few days to see the new subscription in effect.
The Jio Prime subscription plan, when introduced in 2017, promised a lot of benefits apart from just offering call and data benefits. With Jio Prime, you can get access to all of Jio Apps, including the now popular JioTV and JioCinema. The Prime membership also offers three months of free Pro subscription to JioSaavn that allows free downloads.
With Jio Prime enabled for free now, anyone with a Jio connection can enjoy a substantial amount fo benefits. You don’t have to pay additionally for calls and SMS with a Jio subscription – something that all other operators still require their subscribers to do. Jio popularized the concept of an all-in-one monthly subscription plan and every other operator has been offering recharge plans with a combination of calls, data and validity.
