An ancient copper coin was recovered at Halougaon of Sadiya recently.
According to information available, one Medhi Hatimuria of Halougaon under Na-Sadiya Police Station in Tinsukia district found the coin in a small earthen pitcher while he was tilling his kitchen garden. On one side of the coin is an image of a soldier and on the other side the image of Lord Ganesha are embossed.
On one side of the coin, something is written. Though some people claim it to be a Thai coin of the late 19th or early 20th century, but that is yet to be ascertained. The local people claim the language written on the coin to be Thai.
