Headless body of a women was recovred in Nilachal Hills some 200 metres from Kamakhya PS on Wednesday.
Some flowers, a packet of incense sticks, and other materials used for worship were also recovered from near the body.
The identity of the deceased is yet to be ascertained.
It may be mentioned here that the annual Ambubachi Mela is all set to begin from June 21 and the police has beefed up the security in the area.
Locals are in a state of shock on the recovery of the body and they have also questioned the quality security arrangements for the ensuing Ambubachi.
