Assam’s dog Quarmy wins national Award “Super sniper Dog”

Quarmy, a German Shepherd dog deployed at the Biswanath Wildlife Division in Assam as a sniffer canine has recently won a special award for helping curb wildlife crime in the state.

Along with Quarmy, her handlers Lakhmi Nandan Baruah and Johnson Teron will also be awarded. The duo was jointly trained at the NTCD, BSF Academy, Gwalior back in 2017. According to Baruah, Quarmy has been able to crack a number of wildlife crime cases right from the detection of rhino horns, poaching activities to the recovery of hunting materials.
