The cases of Japanese Encephalitis (JE) are increasing day by day in Assam and the state government and the health department have failed to prevent the disease although it had taken measures to curb the menace.
According to the data of the health department, 101 people have died due to JE while 439 people have been affected by the disease. On the other hand, 222 people have died due to Acute Encephalitis Syndrome (AES) against 1569 people who are suffering from the disease.
A total of 323 people have lost their lives from JE and AES.
