The Bureau of Investigation and Economic Offences (BIEO) of the Assam Police on Friday arrested one more in connection with an agriculture scam in the State. The arrested accused has been identified as Bidyutjyoti Sarma (35).
Based on inputs, a team of BIEO arrested Sarma from Bongaigaon. It may be mentioned here that Sarma is the chairman of Dhalaigaon panchayat.
As per sources, Sarma had allegedly collected of Rs. 1 crore from poor farmers and assured them of providing tractors, seeds and fertilizers. Earlier, three more people were arrested in connection with the same case.
