In a shocking incident a six year-old girl from a Raipur’s government school was allegedly raped by three 10-year old boys from the same school on August 20, according to reports.
A police official as per reports of NDTV said that the girl stated she had been taken to a bathroom in the school where two boys sexually assaulted her and the third kept watch outside.
Following the incident, a teacher saw them and took the girl to the principal’s office.
She was later sent home where she narrated the incident to her parents who first sought action against the boys, but after no response from the school, they filed a case with the police.
A rape and sexual assault case was registered under the appropriate sections of the Indian Penal Code and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
The three accused have been charged under sections 376 (rape) and 354 A (sexual harassment) of the IPC and section 4 of the POCSO Act. However, they have not been detained yet, the official mentioned.
It should be noted that the girl’s statement was recorded in the presence of the Child Welfare Commission and a medical examination on the girl child confirmed that she had been sexually assaulted.
