Assam Science and Technology University organizes 1st Northeast HACKATHON 2019.
Guwahati: Assam Science and Technology University (ASTU) is organizing the 1st Northeast Hackathon on 3rd and 4thSeptember 2019 at Maniram Dewan Trade Centre, Guwahati. The event is being organized under the TEQIP- III programme of Ministry of HRD, Govt. of India in association with Startup Assam.
Hackathon is a sporting activity with the game being played with brainstorm, it’s a thought process to encourage innovation amongst the students of different institutes in the form of convention. The concept of the Northeast Hackathon is to develop the startup environment, it’s upgradation and incubation of the student across different colleges of Northeast India, which will create sustainable development across the various sectors.
The Northeast Hackathon-2019 competition is organized for all students across Northeast India in the focus sectors pertinent to the region like Textile and Handloom, Tourism, Water Management, Energy, Environment and Sustainability, Food Technology. The students need to submit presentation in the form of Business plan of the idea or project in different emerging technology for a sustainable product or service. The two day grand event will also consist of Workshops, Competitions, Brainstorming & Expert training sessions etc. to develop the problem solving approach through designing, thinking & understanding the startup culture with newer insights and emerging technological innovations.
The student participants have to submit the Business Plan Presentation as per the timeline to northeasthackathon@gmail.com on or before 30th August, 2019.

On the occasion of prelaunch of the mega competition event Northeast Hackathon-2019,
The Honorable Vice Chancellor of Assam Science and Technology University Prof. (Dr.) Dhiraj Bora said, “We are glad that after the success of Hackathon last year with our affiliated colleges, we are again coming up with more innovative ideas this year for the students across Northeast India. The mission of organizing the Hackathon is to develop the problem solving approach &encourage the startup ecosystem amongst students by identifying the best latent talents across different colleges of Northeast India where two or three startups can originate from the campuses in their respective fields”.
With the overwhelming excitement & response amongst the student fraternity across Northeast India, it is expected that there would be around 100 teams and over 500 students participating from different colleges and institutes for the Hackathon competition.
The competition will be judged by a panel of eminent experts from different focus sectors who would be scrutinizing the participants with respect to the approach of the problem statements, elevator pitch round & final presentation. The top three participants will be rewarded in the form of prize money Rs.1, 50,000, Rs. 75,000 and Rs. 50, 000. Further winners of the competition will be incubated at the Assam Science and Technology University Start-up cell for further progress and guidance.
