Four people were injured in a gas tank explosion at Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Plant in Unnao, stated news agency ANI on Thursday. The incident resulted in a stampede-like situation leaving many injured.
Soon after the accident, fire tenders rushed to the spot to douse the flames. The cause of the blast was found to be due to a valve leakage at the plant, stated a report. Following the blast, several trains were blocked including the Jhansi Passenger passenger, Unnao-LTT train, Unnao to Ajgain trains and the Kanpur Shatabdi train on the Lucknow-Kanpur route.
The Hindustan Petroleum management put in their best efforts to stop the leakage at the site. A warning was issued for a distance of 4-5 kilometer radius from the plant. Reports stated that villagers who fell in the radius were asked to vacate the place.
