According to reports, the incident took place in the Murkongselek-Rangia train, at around 3 PM on September 17, when the accused identified as P R Shukla from Uttar Pradesh allegedly attempted to rape the woman while she was in the washroom.
The victim somehow managed to raise an alarm and the accused was thrashed by the public.
In the meanwhile the jawan has been handed over to Tangla GRP and police is investigating the matter.
