After the huge success of the first season, Guwahati City Football Club (GCFC) and Sportscraft Management are all set to start the second season of Assam’s first ever baby league ‘Greater Guwahati Baby League’ (GGBL) from November. Over nine hundred kids from a total of 84 teams have participated in the first season of GGBL across five age categories and it was one of the most successful baby leagues of the country in terms of participation. Keeping up the momentum, GCFC has started preparations for the second season after approval from Assam Football Association (AFA) as well All India Football Federation (AIFF) and invited interested teams to register themselves, told GGBL operator Kaustab Chakraborty in a statement. Chakraborty informed that this season focus will be to bring younger kids, especially more girls to the field to build interest around the game from tender age. To fulfill this objective, U6 category is added to the league along with U8, U10 and U12 categories as per amended rules and regulations of AIFF’s Golden Baby League project. Interested teams are requested to include at least one girl to each of their teams across all age categories. Teams are also requested to register one team in each age categories & teams with highest participations in terms of age group teams will be given preference in registration as slots are limited. Age cut off date for U6 is 1st January, 2013. For U8, age cut off date is 1st January, 2011. For U10, cut off date is 1st January, 2009 and for U12, the cut off date is 1st January, 2007.
GGBL teams can be from any club, academy, schools, group of individuals or any entity provided they avide by the rules and regulations set by AIFF and the organizers.
