The food safety department today carried out a drive to examine the quality of milk in the city. During the drive, a team of the department collected five samples of milk from Fancy Bazaar, Kumarpara and Santipur.
According to an official source in the department, the samples will be sent to the laboratory located in Kolkata for investigation.
Again, the Food and Drugs Administration and Commissionerate of Food Safety recently imposed prohibition on manufacture, storage, transportation, display, distribution or sale of gutkha, pan masala or any chewing material containing tobacco and nicotine, in the State.
The prohibition has been imposed under the Food Safety and Standards Act and will remain in force for one year.(Assam Tribune)
