GU convocation on Feb 24

GUWAHATI, Feb 6 – Acclaimed scientist and former Vice Chancellor of Jawaharlal Nehru University Prof Sudhir Kr Sopory will be the chief guest at the 28th convocation of Gauhati University to be held on February 24, in which the university will confer honorary DLitt and Doctorate on noted writer Arup Kumar Dutta and sculptor Biren Singha, respectively. According to a statement, this year, a total of 2,534 students and scholars have applied for degrees to be conferred at the convocation. Out of this, 341 have applied for PhD. The convocation will be presided over by Assam Governor and Chancellor of the university Prof Jagdish Mukhi, which will be held at the varsity playground.
