The Assam Police, through a press statement, today announced that from Friday it will enforce the odd-even formula for the vehicles used in essential services in the city as part of the lockdown.
Under the rule, tomorrow, police will allow those essential services vehicles which have an even number as the last digit of their registration number.
On Saturday, city police will apply that rule on the vehicles having an odd number as the last digit of the registration number.
All ambulances, doctors, health workers, media personnel, on-duty government officials, water-carrying vehicles and goods-carrying trucks having full body will, however, be exempted from the rule.
Meanwhile, the Kamrup Metro district administration, in order to properly implement the lockdown norms, will restrict movement of all kinds of vehicles having special passes on the roads of Guwahati from Friday, but the vehicles used in the essential services, including media, will be exempted, sources at the district administration informed.
