West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee today said all places of worship — temples, mosques, gurudwaras — will be allowed to open in the state from June 1, but not more than 10 people will be allowed together. There will be no assembly at religious places, she added.
A day after Home Minister Amit Shah spoke to all chief ministers and sought their views on extension of the ongoing nationwide lockdown beyond May 31, he met Prime Minister Narendra Modi today as India recorded the biggest-ever spike of over 7,400 Covid-19 cases in a day. The nationwide curbs was first announced by PM Modi on March 24 for 21 days in a bid to contain the spread of the novel coronavirus. It was first extended till May 3 and then again till May 17. The lockdown was further extended for the third time till May 31.
