Himanta Biswa Sarma inaugurates NE’s first independent COVID care hospital

GUWAHATI: Northeast’s first independent speciality hospital for the treatment of COVID-19 positive patients have been inaugurated in Guwahati Medical College Hospital (GMCH) premises here by Assam health minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma on Friday.
The hospital with 200 beds and 50 intensive care units (ICUs) has been constructed with Rs 130 crore and is equipped with Ultra Violet (UV) Ray technology imported from Canada.

Sarma tweeted “The new unit at #GMCH is centrally air-conditioned and equipped with 14 Ultraviolet Germicidal Irradiation (UGVI) System, which will help in improving indoor air quality and bacteria management. Each bed has dedicated supply of medical gas.”
