GUWAHATI: A waiter at a hotel in Assam’s Lakhimpur district has tested positive for COVID-19. The waiter identified as 17-year old Bikash Ali had come in with a returnee who was under quarantine at the hotel and later tested positive for COVID-19.
Several returnees were under quarantine at the hotel. Meanwhile, the waiter had reportedly fetched different items for the returnees while they were under quarantine.
However, the testing of the waiter as COVID positive has led to a fear psychosis among the locals particularly the shopkeepers nearby the hotel.
Meanwhile, the health authorities have urged shop owners who came in touch with the waiter to voluntarily come forward for SWAB tests.
