The total COVID-19 positive cases have breached the 500 mark in Meghalaya with 24 new cases being reported in the past 24 hours.
With these new cases, the active cases in the State have touched 433 and the total positive cases have reached 514. Seven patients have also recovered from the infection during this period in the State.
In all, 77 patients have recovered and four persons have succumbed to the infection.
According to Health Department officials, out of the 24 new cases, 18 are from East Khasi Hills, two from East Jaintia Hills and four from West Jaintia Hills districts.
In East Khasi Hills district, the new infections include six BSF, two Air Force personnel and 10 civilians. In all, there are 269 BSF personnel and 14 other armed forces personnel who have contracted COVID-19.
Out of the seven recoveries, four are from the BSF, two from the Air Force and one is a civilian. All these patients are from East Khasi Hills, which is the worst affected of all the 11 districts in the State.
