Nagaland today registered 57 new COVID-19 cases, taking the State’s tally to 1,087. “Out of 513 samples tested, 57 positive cases of COVID-19 have been confirmed,” Health and Family Welfare Minister S Pangnyu Phom tweeted on Wednesday.
He said of the 57 cases, 23 are from Dimapur, 18 from Kohima, seven from Zunheboto, five from Peren and two each from Mon and Mokokchung.
Out of the 1,087 positive cases, 602 are active. As many as 485 patients have recovered so far. No death has occurred in Nagaland due to the virus till date.
Meanwhile, the MP Road here has been sealed following the death of a woman at a paid quarantine hotel along the road today. She was reportedly pregnant.
Sources said she had arrived here from Guwahati in the early hours today. Her husband reportedly dropped her and then returned to Guwahati.
The woman was not well and had called her friends to inform about her condition, who in turn sought the help of a medical team. When the medical team arrived, it found her room locked from inside. On breaking open the door, she was found dead. The postmortem of the body is being conducted and her COVID-19 test will also be done, after which the cause of the death can be ascertained.
The recovery rate of COVID-19 patients in the State stands at 47 per cent, according to the Health and Family Welfare Department on Tuesday.
Dimapur district recorded the highest number of positive cases with 432, followed by Peren (254), Kohima (216), Mon (99), Tuensang (44), Phek (17), Zunheboto (12), Mokokchung (9), Longleng (3) and Wokha district (1).
Among the active cases, Dimapur has 270 patients, Kohima 109, Peren 95, Mon 91, Tuensang 10, Phek 8, Mokokchung 7, Zunheboto 7, Longleng 3 and Wokha one. Of the 485 recovered patients, 163 are from Dimapur, 158 from Peren, 107 from Kohima, 34 from Tuensang, 9 from Phek, 8 from Mon, 4 from Zunheboto and two from Mokokchung. Kiphire is the only district in the State which has reported no positive case till date.
One of the active patients in Dimapur is on ventilator.
