4 accused of Zubeen heckling case arrested in new case; Zubair Anam’s statement in the incident

GUWAHATI: Dispur police on Wednesday questioned four persons, Arup Talukdar, Hirak Jyoti Rajbongshi, Dishant Bhagawati and Gitartha Deka, on charges of heckling singer-composer Zubeen Garg on August 12 night in Ganeshguri, Guwahati.

The four were detained by Dispur Police from Sixmile area of Guwahati after they addressed a pressmeet regarding the Zubeen heckling incident.

Assistant Commissioner of Police Himangshu Das told the media that a team of police personnel from Dispur Police Station found the four youths at a house in Sixmile area and took them to the police station where they were addressing a press conference regarding the incident.

Following the arrest, NSUI state vice president Zubair Anam said, “They have been arrested after recieving bail in the case. Today they have been taken from a private property without any proper notice.”

He added, “This is a conspiracy. I dont know properly why they have been arrested, but as per information they were arrested in charges of fake mobile phone theft case.”
