GUWAHATI: In three separate operations, troops of Guwahati frontier of Border Security Force (BSF) apprehended 5 Indian cattle smugglers and rescued 101 cattle heads from bordering areas of Kaliralga in South Salamara district and Sastraghat of Dhubri in Assam on the intervening night of 25-26 August.
“Acting on a tip-off , BSF troops of Border Out Post (BOP) Boreralga of 06 Bn BSF carried out an special operation in the riverine area of Indo-Bangladesh international border and apprehended 04 Indian cattle smugglers along with 10 cattle heads after hot pursuit, while cattle heads were being smuggled from India to Bangladesh. Apprehended cattle smugglers are identified as :- i) Shaidur Islam (22 yrs), S/O Hakim Ali, Vill- Kaliralga part-I, PO. Kokradanga, PS. Sukhchar, Distt. SSM (Assam) (ii) Mohim Sheikh. (28yrs), S/O- Jabed Ali Sheikh, Vill- Ashmeralga, PO- Kanaimara, PS- Haatsingmari, Distt- SSM(Assam) (iii) Zakir Hussain (28 yrs), S/O Late Romjan Hussain, VPO+PS – Sukhchar, Distt- SSM (Assam) (iv) Sahedul Islam (32 yrs), S/O Abdul Latif Sheikh, VPO+PS – Sukhchar, Distt- SSM (Assam). Apprehended smugglers alongwith seized items have been handed over to PS- Sukhchar, Distt – South Salamara (Assam) for further legal action,” public relations officer of BSF Guwahati frontier said in a press release.
In second operation, on intervening night of 25/26 Aug’ 2020, BSF troops of Border Out Post (BOP) Shishumara of 06 Bn BSF carried out an operation in riverine area of Indo-Bangladesh International border and apprehended 01 Indian cattle smuggler along with 08 cattle heads after hot pursuit, while cattle heads were being smuggled from India to Bangladesh. Apprehended cattle smuggler is identified as Akhirul Islam (19 yrs), S/o Bakto Sheikh, VPO- Kokradanga, PS- Sukhchar, Distt – South Salamara. Apprehended smuggler alongwith seized items have been handed over to PS- Sukhchar, Distt – South Salamara (Assam) for further legal action.
Besides above, vigilant BSF troops have also rescued 52 Nos of cattle heads from different places of District Coochbehar (West Bengal) and 31 Nos of cattle heads from different places of district South Salamara (Assam) on Indo-Bangladesh border, while cattle heads were being smuggled from India to Bangladesh.
