The State government today announced provincialisation of 385 educational institutions and nearly 4,000 faculty members and staff associated with them. The institutions include 197 high schools, nine higher secondary schools and 149 senior secondary schools, besides 27 colleges, Education Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma announced at a press conference here.
The details of the institutions are available in the departmental websites, he said.
“Under the secondary education department, we have provincialised 3,049 faculty members of these institutions and under the higher education department 931, which totals to 3,980,” he said.

Meanwhile, the education department has instructed the colleges to increase their TDC first semester seats by 25 per cent and reserve these for AHSEC students.
“CBSE could not complete their examinations due to the pandemic. The students were given projected marks. But we could complete our examination. This has created a disparity and we have seen that many of our students could not get admission in colleges like Cotton. To bring parity, we have taken the move,” Sarma said.
The additional seats and reservation will be applicable for this year only.
He also informed that the Teachers Day will be celebrated at the State level in Guwahati involving 150 teachers. “We have asked the districts to hold programmes involving 50 teachers,” he added.
