With an aim to relax the burden of the Covid-19 frontline workers, the state government of Meghalaya on Thursday decided to close all the entry points to the hill state for one week every month starting from September.
Meghalaya chief minister Conrad Sangma, in his tweeter handle, said, “Government has decided to close all entry points to Meghalaya for 1 week every month in the next 3 months starting September 2020.”
Sangma said that decision was taken to unburden the frontline health workers and the respective district administration engaged in intensive surveillance for Covid-19 pandemic.
The chief minister said, “We are strategizing long-term management of Covid-19 in Meghalaya by actively involving legislators, community bodies and citizens. A meeting will be conducted with MLAs of East Khasi Hills districts to take this plan forward.”
