CM SONOWAL LAUNCHES WEBSITE AND LOGO OF ‘STATE BAMBOO DEVELOPMENT AGENCY’

GUWAHATI: On the occasion of ‘World Bamboo Day’ Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sononwal on Friday launched the website and logo of the ‘State Bamboo Development Agency’ in Guwahati. He also felicitated the logo designer Rupjyoti Roy. Speaking on the occasion, Sonowal urged the farmers and enthusiastic youths to come forward and take a leadership role in modernizing the bamboo art of Assam.

Commemorating the special day, Assam CM held an interaction with young bamboo entrepreneurs including ‘Bamboo Lady’ Neera Sarmah and also an MoU was signed between ‘Cycle Pure Agarbattis’ and Assam Bamboo Mission. CM Sonowal also handed over the prize of the competition of food items prepared from bamboo, to the winner Archana Boro Rongpi.

Later in a series of tweets Sarbananda Sonowal said, “Witnessing the potential of bamboo as well as cane for rural economic development, Assam Govt has already enacted ‘Bamboo & Cane’ policy in the state. The Ethanol project in Numaligarh will boost our agro-economy sector. We will together make bamboo a profit-making industry.”

“For making a #AtmaNirbharAssam, value addition of bamboo is very much required. In this regard, I urge the farmers and enthusiastic youths to take a leadership role in modernizing the bamboo art of Assam,” said a tweet.

“Bamboo has a deep connection with the Assamese society. Keeping this in mind we have given special emphasis towards promoting this natural resource. We will have to capture the large bamboo market of the world,” said another tweet.
