Guwahati: Amid rising Covid-19 cases and efforts to contain the spread, the Assam government on Tuesday announced a mini lockdown in the state which came in effect from 5 am of May 5, today until further orders.
The mini lockdown is given only after the authorities observed that people aren’t following the COVID-19 protocols strictly. The death rate in the state has abruptly risen and to adhere to strict rule the government has revised the existing restrictions.
Pharmacies, hospitals, Animal Care Centres and Veterinary clinics may operate without restrictions being providers of essential and emergency services.
One can perform only the religious part of the marriage with the presence of a maximum of 20 persons. No reception parties are allowed prior to or post to such ceremonies.
Only 5 persons will be allowed to enter all religious places at a time.
Among the new “stricter” curbs in the state, there will be a total ban on the movement of individuals from 6 pm to 5 am from today. No vehicles and individuals could move out of their homes after 6 pm.
All shops, commercial establishments and offices shall shut down at 2 pm.
Restaurants, Dhabas and other eateries can entertain dine-in guests only up to 2 pm. However, takeaway including home delivery of food is allowed till 6 pm after which only home delivery of food will be allowed.
