Ajit Das kidnapping case: Main accused Kanwaldeep Singh Sidhu killed in Police encounter

The main accused in the kidnapping of businessman Ajit Das from Guwahati- Kanwaldeep Singh Sidhu, was injured in police firing when he tried to snatch a gun and flee from police custody.

Sidhu who was a Rail Special Force Inspector was apprehended by Assam Police on Friday from Doldoli Reserve forest in Karbi Anglong district.

“The incident took place near Doldoli Reserve forest in Karbi Anglong district,” said GP Singh in a tweet.

It is to be mentioned that, on June 23, six miscreants kidnapped businessman Ajit Dass, a railway parking leasee, from his house in Guwahati. Later, Guwahati Police rescued Das from a location in Jagiroad. Three people arrested in connection with the kidnapping have been identified as Forest Guard Battalion constable Jiten Bailung, home guard Suraj Pator, Moneswar Das (pharmacist).

Besides the arrest of the policemen and pharmacist, two others have also been taken into custody were Sanju Bordoloi and Satya Bordoloi.
