Samir Banerjee on Sunday lifted the Wimbledon boys singles title with a straight-set win over Victor Lilov.
Playing only his second junior Grand Slam, the 17-year-old won 7-5, 6-3 in the final match. The match lasted for one hour 22 minutes.

Samir Banerjee, whose father is from Assam, made everyone take notice of his talent, winning four clay-court titles in 2020. The 17-year-old won his 6th junior title after defeating Victor Lilov in the all-American final.
The duo had entered the tournament unseeded but managed their way through with some good performance.
If Samir Banerjee won the semifinal against France’s Sascha Gueymard Wayenburg 7-6(3), 4-6, 6-2 in just under two hours while Victor Lilov brushed aside challenge from No 1 seed Juncheng Shang 6-3, 6-1 of China.
It is to be mentioned that Banerjee’s parents had moved to America in the 1980s.
