GUWAHATI: All Santal Students Union(ASSU) on Friday felicitated nominated candidate Wilson Hasda for being elevated as Executive Member (EM) in the Promod Boro-led council. The felicitation took place in the ASSU office in the Habrubil area of Gossaigaon, Kokrajhar. BTR CEM Pramod Boro, Minister Ranjit Basumatary among others were present at the felicitation ceremony.
Speaking on the occasion, Wilson Hasda said, “I am very happy for the portfolio that the BTR government has given me. I will be looking after the Urban Development, Skill Development, Entrepreneurship Seed and the IT department.”
Hasda said that he would be working for the unemployed youths, school dropouts and entrepreneurs from the BTR area.
Speaking about various problems and issues that tribes have to face in the BTR area, Hasda said that the CEM had given full assurance to help them. “Even before the elections, Pramod Boro had assured that the issues of tribal people will be resolved. We have two organizations that are in ceasefire mode, student organisations and other socio-cultural organisations, and we are already discussing our issues with Pramod Boro through them,” said Hasda.
It is to be mentioned that Wilson Hasda and Dhananjay Basumatary took oath as Executive Members(EM) on Thursday in presence of Chief Executive Member (CEM), Pramod Boro, Deputy chief, Gobinda Basumatary, BTC Principal Secretary Shantanu P. Gotmare and EMs at the Assembly Hall in Bodofa Nagar, Kokrajhar.
