Gitika Karwa, daughter of Yogesh Karwa and Priti Karwa of Dibrugarh was crowned as the winner of Miss Queen of the World India in Mumbai recently. She was crowned as Miss Queen in the beauty pageant Queen of the World India. She will be representing India in the competition- Miss Queen of the world scheduled in March in New Jersey, America.
In an exclusive interview with Guwahati Times, Karwainformed that she is 21 years old and hails from Dibrugarh in Assam. She did my schooling at Welham Girls’ School Dehradun and is currently pursuing her Bcom(Hons.) at NMIMS, Mumbai.
Speaking about her school life, Karwa said, “When I was 11, I went to Welham Girls’ School, Dehradun. Since it is a boarding school, and I was just 11 it was very difficult for me to adjust. I was often homesick and would always write letters to my parents saying that I wanted to come back. But my parents knew that Welham would only help me for the better and kept on motivating me. And today I thank them for their decision. Welham helped me become the person I am today, it shaped my personality and brought out a side in me that I never knew even excited!.”
“It helped me hone my acting and dancing skills and I even went on to become the drama captain of my school. At 16, I was given the opportunity to represent Uttarakhand at the 10 meter Air Pistol Shooting Championship, and have been representing it ever since! Another reason why I am super thankful to Welham is that it helped me make friends that would last a lifetime. Welham was like a mini India, which allows me to meet people from all over India and get a taste of their culture as well! I have created a whole lot of memories in Welham and I cherish all of that to date and would even continue to do so. I can confidently say that going to Welham Girls’ School was the best decision of my life,” She added.
Speaking about her college life, Karwa said, “Currently, I am in my last semester and am pursuing Bcom Hons. from NMIMS, Mumbai. I joined NMIMS in 2019. Luckily, I had the opportunity to at least enjoy 7-8 months of my campus and college life before the pandemic struck us. In that 7-8 months I truly enjoyed my college life as well the “Bombay life”. I made some friends who were like family. We ate together, studied together, took naps together, fight/cry/laugh, and sometimes even did absolutely nothing together. I loved the “fast – pace” life of Bombay and was making use of every single second. Soon the lockdown struck us and we were back in our homes doing the “online” mode of studies. We all were missing college and were desperately waiting to meet each other super soon. But even during the lockdown, we all stayed connected continued to make memories. Luckily, the colleges are opening now and I cannot wait to get back to make memories of a lifetime with people I would never forget.”
Adding about her Modeling career, she said, “So this is my first time in a pageant. Ever since I was small, I always dreamed to be on the big screen and was also very passionate about acting. I would mimic my friends and family and even act out ads, but had never thought of it as a career. One day when I was just scrolling through Instagram, I just saw this upcoming pageant of “Queen of the World” and thought to apply for it. I went ahead and applied for it and just decided to go with the flow. I just believed in myself and just wanted to turn my dream into a reality..and now after being crowned as “Miss. Queen of the World India 2021”, I can see the change happening right in front of me. Now, I am super excited and thrilled to represent India at an international level, and take a step closer to my dream.”
Modeling as a career:
I believe if you have the passion and the self-belief for any particular path, you should just go for it. So like I said, since my childhood I’ve always wanted to come on the big screen, I somewhere always knew that this could be my calling. And now that I can see myself achieving my goals, I’m happy. I also feel that today modeling is one of the most lucrative as well as exciting profession available to the youth. It is super fun and glamorous field, and if one is passionate about it, they should definitely go for it!
About Queen of the World pageant:
So I came across the “Queen of the World” pageant one day when I was scrolling through Instagram. When I went through the profile, I saw that this pageant is one that promotes inclusivity and had a very positive message to it. I did my research, talked to my parents, and went ahead and applied for it. Soon I was short-listed and was asked to send in a video where I talked about myself, my passions, and a little bit about my life journey. After that, I had a little interview with the Director of the “Queen of the World India” pageant where she asked me certain questions and asked me what message I would like to spread through this universal platform. I cleared all these rounds and started my training, and was then crowned “Miss Queen of the World India 2021”!
Message for the people of Assam:
Firstly, I would like to thank all the people of Assam who have showered me with so much love and support. I just want to tell them, that I will put in all the hard work possible and make India proud at an international level! And this message is to all the people out there, who believe that they are not good enough, I just want to tell you that no one is you and THAT is your power! You are your only limit, so get out of your comfort zone, push yourself and you will slowly see yourself achieving all your goals and dreams. Just believe in yourself and you will be unstoppable.

I feel blessed and excited to take part in the Queen of the World Pageant. Through this universal platform, I would like to spread the message, that with a positive mindset women can go beyond themselves and explore their many capabilities!
