The second edition of Jothumma(Tribal Youth Conclave) began from Tuesday at Bodofa Cultural Complex with three day(29, 30, 31 March) program scheduled in Kokrajhar.
Asia Indigenous Peoples Pact (AIPP) executive council member (ECM) Pankoj Teron inauguarated the event by lighting a lamp.
Over 200 delegate and representatives from 29 autonomous councils are attending the three-day event and have plans of deep discussion on the welfare and development aspects of the tribal communities as well sixth scheduled aspects.
The event has been organised by Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR) government.
Prominent participating autonomous councils are included Ladak,Kargil from Jammu – Kashmir, autonomous councils of northeastern states including Karbi Anglong, Dima Hasao,Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC), Kamatapur Autonomous Council (KAC) etc.
The inaugural session was chaired by BTR executive member and chairman of Jothumma organising committe, Daobaisa Boro. Speaking to Guwahati Times, “Boro said that Jothumma is being organised to make integration and harmony among the tribal communities in the country.”
The event witnessed multicultural demonstration representing different indigenous communities across the region.
Among others, BTR executve members Ranjit Basumatary, Reo Reoa Narzihary, Wilson Hasda, chairman of Kamatapur Autonomous Council Hiteswar Barman attended the event.
