Margherita regional students union of AASU on Wednesday staged a protest at NH-315 Block Tiniali, Margherita against the skyrocketing price of essential commodities.

Chintu Gogoi, president and Rupam Baruah, general secretary of Margherita Regional Student Union said that before the polls, BJP’s prime issues were price rise and unemployment but after the formation of government, BJP has turned a blind eye and now everyone especially the middle class people are suffering a lot due to the rising price of essential commodities such as LPG cylinder, medicines, construction materials and many more.

Chintu Gogoi said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi assured the people of the country before the 2014 Lok Sabha polls that ‘Acche Din’ (Happier Days) shall come but in reality ‘Acche Din’ came for the capitalists and corporate houses such as Adani, Ambani, etc.

Chintu Gogoi further added that the BJP led government is creating beneficiaries for the sake of vote bank which has led to economic imbalance and thus the market price of essential commodities are increasing day-by-day.

The student union members staged a 2-hour long ‘dharna’ and shouted various slogans against the BJP led government both at the Centre and the state.
