Following allegation from former minister and IPFT MLA Mevar Kumar Jamatia that it was IPFT president NC Debbarma who had signed an agreement with the Pradyot Debbarma-led Tipra Motha for a merger, the veteran IPFT leader today admitted that an agreement was indeed signed.

N C Debbarma, however, claimed that the agreement was signed before the Tipra Motha declared itself a political party.

It may be mentioned that Speaking to Northeast Live Editor in Chief Wasbir Hussain in the show Northeast Tonight yesterday, Jamatia who was also stripped of ministerial berth, claimed that it was NC Debbarma who had signed an agreement for merger with the Tipra Motha.

To substantiate his claims, Jamatia brought to notice an agreement signed by the IPFT and Tipra last year to launch a joint movement for Greater Tipraland. Jamatia also drew attention to the part of the agreement which stated both the parties agree that after the Delhi Abhiyan, they will initiate the process of unifying as one united political party.

Meanwhile, NC Debbarma reiterated that former minister Mevar jamatia has been involved in anti party activities and an action was on the cards.
